This course is aimed at you, who need to prepare for vetting inspection. The course content is based on the questions in OCIMF's SIRE VIQ7. This course will provide you with knowledge about essential functions and effective use of the Furuno ECDIS FMD-3100/3200/3300 series.

Level: Basic

Relevant for: Navigators operating the Furuno ECDIS (FMD-series), who needs to refresh or update their ECDIS knowledge to be prepared for a vetting inspection on the ECDIS.

Duration: This online training course can be taken at your own pace, with the possibility to enter and exit the course as often as you require. Estimated time: 5 hours.

Course content

• Setting up the visual and safety settings on the ECDIS.

• Performing safe route planning and route monitoring.

• Maintaining proper chart management, with the processes of installing licenses, updating charts, etc.

• Preparation of parallel index.

• Manual position plotting.

• Sensor management.

• UKC and other Nav tools.

This course is not a substitute for the type-specific familiarization training.

Training documentation: The training course includes continuous testing (multiple-choice tests after each lesson), eliminating the need for a final, conclusive test. When you have passed all tests, a record of completion will be generated and issued on the NavSkills Online platform.
