FURUNO Radar training

 

This training course will provide you with knowledge about the FURUNO radar
and its effective use in navigation and for collision avoidance.

Relevant for:

Navigators in charge of navigational watch on pleasure crafts, fishing vessels, work boats or in the merchant marine.

Equipment used:

Full mission simulator, FURUNO Radar / ARPA.

Duration:

1 day.

Admission recommendation:

Preferably experience in bridge watch keeping.

Course content:

The course takes its basis from IMO Model Course 1.07 and includes theoretical lectures, series of demonstrations, and active discussions based on your experience with operating a radar.
Practical exercises in full mission simulator. The training course includes the following topics:

  • Basic theory and operation of a marine radar system.

  • Setup and operation of the radar.

  • Manual radar plotting.

  • Use of radar for navigation.

  • Use of radar for avoiding collision.

  • Operation of ARPA radar.

Course certificate:

If successful completion of the course, the participant will be issued a course certificate, which complies with the STCW Code, table A-II/1.
